Why Hot Java is a sexy brew for #CoffeeDay

hot_java_gold_sexy_couple

Every girl is looking for a pot of gold…why not a golden coffee cup? Love this photo. Rich, decadent…what makes it better is when you share it with your favorite guy…so here’s to Hot Java!

I hope you enjoy my poem for Coffee Day:

HOT JAVA

Java is a girl’s best friend
When you don’t want that special night to end

“Stick around for a cup of Joe,” you say
After a night in bed that blew you away

Then watch his eyes glow with desire
When you put on the coffee and light his fire

Wearing a sexy black teddy, tight and see-through
You ask, “Eggs or cinnamon buns with your brew?”

“I’ll have the buns,” he says, eyeing yours with a smile
You shiver with glee. The coffee can wait for awhile

It’s back to bed with your man for round two
And to coffee you say, a big “Thank you!”

‘I will never forget what the Nazi did to me. Never‘I

1940, Nazi-occupied Paris. A powerful story of love, tragedy and incredible courage, about one woman whose life is ripped apart by war and risks everything to seek justice. Brand new from the bestselling author of The Resistance Girl.

As Nazis patrol the streets of the French capital, Tiena is alone, desperate and on the run. After defending herself against the force of an officer, she must find a new identity in order to survive.

An accidental meeting with members of the Resistance gives her a lifeline, as she is offered the chance to reinvent herself as perfumer Angéline De Cadieux.

However Angéline will never forget what happened to her, and will do everything she can to seek revenge. But vengeance can be a dangerous game, and Angeline can only hide her true identity for so long before her past catches up with her, with some devastating consequences…

Paris, 2003. When the opportunity arises for aspiring journalist Emma Keane to interview world renowned perfumer Madame De Cadieux about her life during World War Two, she is determined to take it. There are secrets from her own family history that she hopes Angéline may be able to help unlock.

But nothing can prepare Emma for Angéline’s story, and one thing is for certain – it will change her own life forever…

An absolutely heartbreaking, unforgettable historical novel of war, sacrifice and survival. Perfect for fans of Suzanne Goldring, Ella Carey and Catherine Hokin.

I’m no angel when it comes to brownies…

I love, love them!! Especially homemade when the chocolate ganache icing gets all gooey when you spread it over the warm brownie. ”

LOVE ME FOREVER. It’s been a long journey to bring my Civil War time travel romance to readers. Years of research and writing and rewriting…574 pages.

Here is a fun excerpt to celebrate Thanksgiving Weekend.

When Liberty Jordan travels back to 1862 during the reenactment of Antietam, she falls in love with a handsome Union Army major…she writes to him about a great battle that will take place.

Fredericksburg.

She also can’t resist celebrating the Thanksgiving holiday, which wasn’t declared a national holiday until 1863 by President Lincoln:

I find the eerie quiet echoing through Rosebriar overwhelming, so intense is the notion we may witness a great battle. When I see the sad faces of the servants, I cannot let them despair, so I have undertaken to show them how to celebrate Thanksgiving. A day which I discovered is fixed at a specific date each year at Berkeley House plantation, replete with turkeys & partridges. To make Rosebriar more festive, Bedelia & I added branches of fine spruce to the mantel above the fireplace in the main receiving room, as well as streamers of colorful ribbons and two flags handsomely draped over the mantelpiece. The effect is inspiring when the gas lights are turned on. I believe in my heart the whole nation will embrace this local tradition and celebrate a national day of Thanksgiving before this terrible war is over.

Thank you for all your support and kind words!!

Veterans Day and Doughnut Dollies

I love this fabulous painting outside the Salvation Army Building in Tulare, CA re: the photographer © Karinoza – Dreamstime.com .

(originally posted on A Slice of Orange.net — visit my sister site to meet some wonderful authors and read their posts!)

I was a doughnut dolly.

Back in the day, I served with the U.S. Army in Livorno, Italy. My job was to make coffee and play pool with the troops, set up entertainment and gourmet tours.

And make cookies. I whipped up hundreds and hundreds of cookies. Chocolate chip.

And doughnuts, too. I got help from the mess hall sergeant, a bespectacled guy from the Midwest who let me commandeer his big pots. Along with my Italian liaison, Maria, we’d cook up hot doughnuts and top them with powdered sugar we got from the PX, a sweet favorite with the boys.

Those were the days.

I’m proud of the time I spent with US Army Special Services — I made turkeys, fruitcakes, hot chocolate, and tons of cookies!

So on this Veterans Day I think about all the Doughnut Dollies who helped bring our servicemen and women a touch of home.

Especially on this 100th Anniversary of Armistice Day when the treaty was signed in a railcar in the French forest on the eleventh day of the eleventh month at the eleventh hour.

God bless all those who have served our country. Thank you.

Jina

PS — For fun, I put on my old uniform with U.S. Army Service Clubs patch. And yeah, I lost the hat years ago somewhere in Italy.

The Rogue from Rome on #NationalPastaDay

Rogue_Roma

The way to a rogue’s heart is through his…

Well, not exactly. At least for this handsome, dashing rogue from Rome.

Find out how a pretty signorina catches his eye on National Pasta Day!

Ciao!

(my poem as written on the graphic)

The ROGUE from ROME

There once was a rogue from Rome

Who wandered far from home

A pretty wife to find

To make pasta divine

Such was his desire

To light his fire

But the girl who caught his eye

Couldn’t cook or bake or fry

What she could do I don’t have to tell you

Needless to say They went out for pasta every day

And made passionate love all through the night

Our virile rogue al dente when out went the light…
