Why the Seahawks win is like writing…
The Seattle Seahawks are going to the Super Bowl.
Not writing news, but I was struck by how the Seattle player caught that ball on the last play and wouldn’t let go of it. I mean, he held onto it like it was a pot of gold.
It hit me that’s what I needed today to get going on my WIP. A 112,000 word Civil War Time Travel Romance that is driving me crazy.
I need to hold onto that m/s and not give up. Believe I can come from behind like the Seahawks did today and win.
It’s a tough game out there with everybody coming at ya. Trying to make every word perfect, every historical battle accurate, every kiss memorable.
But I can do it. You can do it. Because we’re tough.
We’re writers.

What he was doing hanging out at the airline ticket counter, she didn’t know, but she couldn’t keep her eyes off him. He was in a primo class all by himself. His midnight blue pin-striped suit emphasized the breadth of his shoulders. Crisp white collar hugged his tanned neck. Blue silk shirt. Dark hair cut in a sophisticated style. Stubble beard that emphasized his strong jaw. Black overcoat slung over his shoulder.
He had the polish of a GQ model and the sex appeal of a rogue.
It didn’t add up.
Any girl would count herself lucky to be in her spot. Why shouldn’t she take him up on his offer and think about it later?
He had everything going for him. Thick dark hair that spiked over one eye at just the right angle to a squared-off jaw to dark granite eyes that flashed a signal too dangerous to ignore.
And he was tall, something this girl in her size nines would die for. So tall, she had to look up to him.
Six five without taking a breath.

“Yes,” she admitted without thinking. What was in that beer?
“Nothing can compete with an orgasm at thirty thousand feet,” he said in a casual manner, lifting her chin. “You should try it sometime.”
She took a deep breath. “Should I?” Is it that obvious I haven’t had sex for so long my libido runs in silent mode?
“It’s like caviar,” he quipped. “Light and airy like a mermaid’s breath, the clean scent of the ocean filling your mouth. You’ll wonder what took you so long.”
“Are you suggesting I add caviar to the menu at The 3 Bees?”* She was curious how far he’d go with his game.
“Only if you try it yourself first,” he dared her with a smile so warm and engaging she melted like caramel over slow heat. “What do you say? It’s up to you.”
