Love Me Forever releases Tuesday…and a blue lace dress I’ll never forget
LOVE ME FOREVER releases on Tuesday…a big day for me and several other Kindle Scout winners!!
Tonight I wanted to put up a pretty, girly graphic. After all, the clothes during the Civil War were outrageously feminine with big hoop skirts and rows and rows of lace…
I love pretty gowns…especially lace. I remember the first junior high dance dress I ever had. Silver blue lace with a full blue taffeta underskirt and big, wide blue taffeta sash that trailed behind me.
Kinda like a Southern belle.
The dress was gorgeous and very modest. I was only thirteen, but I felt as grown up and pretty as any prom queen.
Even more special was that my mom stayed up all night finishing the dress on her old sewing machine. Every stitch was perfect, the lace aligned, and the big ole sash had nary a wrinkle. Cinderella’s mice couldn’t have done a better job.
I lost my mom years ago…but I still have that blue lace dress. It’s so special to me…every once in a while, I’ll take it out and run my fingers over the lace, knowing she used her magic to make it for me.
Her little girl.
Over the years, the lace has faded, but the memory hasn’t.
Such is the power of a mother’s love…

She wore gray.
He wore blue.
But their love defied the boundaries of war.
And time.
