Why does Time Travel have to be so difficult? Love Me Forever: Day 13

Time travel opens up romantic possibilities that sometimes go awry. Ask Liberty Jordan, the heroine in my Civil War time travel, LOVE ME FOREVER, when she travels back to 1862. In this excerpt, she’s just escaped from a Yankee prison with the help of a Southern belle who is her twin. She insists Liberty take her place so the belle can spy for the South…but Liberty can’t forget the handsome Union Army major who won her heart…

She’d never forget her encounter with the handsome major that sent her pulse racing and her mind spinning when his hand touched hers. Even if they did meet again, she’d be disguised as this wild Southern belle. She couldn’t tell him who she was and risk being shot as a spy.

Yet I can’t forget his strong arms, the rushing sensation when I stumbled and fell against him.

She could hear the rain coming down harder. A fever gripped her, a fever to explore this new world. She couldn’t sleep, wouldn’t sleep. With the constant rumble of the train wheels bumping along the tracks at forty miles an hour, she realized how slow life moved in this era.

Too slow.

From what she’d seen on the battlefield, military technology far surpassed the world of medicine. At first she believed the strange force brought here to balance those odds, but now she was on her way south to a place called Rosebriar. A plantation where antebellum ladies were more concerned about the lacing pattern of their corsets than saving soldiers’ lives.

Yankee or Confederate.

Frustration made her crush the newspaper into a ball. She’d never have an opportunity to help the wounded there. Yet it could be the ideal refuge until she could make sense of how to survive in this time.
